Gingivitis Treatment Caringbah

Do you notice your gums bleeding when you brush or floss? Then you have gingivitis.

Gingivitis is the earliest stage of periodontal disease. Treated at this stage, you can recover completely and easily. If you have bleeding gums, you must visit us at The Caringbah Dentists for a consultation. Our caring dentists will recommend the best treatment option for you and get your dental health back to normal.

Most people usually develop some form of gingivitis or the other during their life. The symptoms of gingivitis specially in the early phases can be quite subtle and therefore easy to miss. However, it is important to catch gingivitis in its early stages itself so it can be treated and completely reversed. If you undergo regular dental check-ups, your dentist will be able to identify the beginning stages of gingivitis and recommend a proper treatment. After treatment, just ensure regular dental care to make sure that the problem does not recur.

Make an appointment with The Caringbah Dentists if you find that your gums bleed when you brush your teeth, or if they cause you pain. We will carry out a thorough dental examination to assess the health of your gums. If required, we may take an x-ray to check the condition of your teeth and jaw bone before deciding on the best possible treatment avenues.

Prevent and treat gingivitis and gum diseases

Mild cases of gingivitis can typically be treated by maintaining good oral hygiene. Brush and floss your teeth daily and also undergo regular dental check-up at least once every 6 months.

During your dental check-up, our dental hygienist will give your teeth a thorough cleaning to remove any hardened plaque or tartar. We can also show you how to clean your teeth effectively to prevent future plaque build-up.

If you have a more severe case of gum disease, then you will need further investigation and treatment. In some cases, you may need surgery. These treatments will be performed by our highly trained periodontist.

Remember that untreated gingivitis and gum diseases can develop into periodontitis and can lead to more severe complications such as receding gums, abscesses, and even loss of teeth.

Due to the increasing rates of COVID-19, our priority is to protect the health and safety of our patients and the wider community. The Australian Dental Association (ADA) has advised all dental practices nationwide to move to level 2 restrictions – that is, all non-essential treatment should be postponed until 30 April.

Because of this, we will be only seeing patients on an emergency-only basis until 30 April, or until advised differently by the ADA. We will be available for phone consultations, help remotely triage emergencies and also post out prescriptions for medications and dental products. Please call if you need an emergency appointment, We will only be seeing patients who have trauma, infection or are in pain.

If you do need to attend our surgery, we have implemented additional hygiene precautions including the use of a hydrogen peroxide mouth rinse, regular disinfection of all surfaces, and hand sanitiser for mandatory use for all patients entering our premises. We will also book emergencies with a 30 minute waiting period in between patients, to maintain social distancing guidelines.

This is a difficult and uncertain time for all of us. We take our contribution to flattening the curve seriously, as well as our commitment to your safety. We are so grateful for your understanding and support.

Stay well, stay safe.
